OPERATION FILL THE MAYFLOWER          2012

Fill the Mayflower will be the last weekend of October, 10/26-28 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.  The "port" is the Sam's Club at 7805 E. 35th Ave, Denver, 80238.  104.3TheFAN is our media sponsor.  This year's Make a Difference Day is Saturday, October 27th - come Make a Difference at the Mayflower!

Please bring donations of non-perishable food items and cash donations (for the perishable food items and holiday gifts)!  We typically feed 300-400 families - and the "ship's" cargo hold is large.  Here are other ways to help:
1. Host your own food and cash donation drive before the end of October and bring the "spoils" to the ship sometime that weekend;
2. Volunteer - at the truck or to talk to patrons (especially those going into the Sam's Club on E. 35th) to encourage them to buy a little bit more to donate to the Mayflower;
3. Tell ALL your friends about this important effort to help military families in our own backyard.

Over 550 runners and walkers "went the distance" to remember those who lost their lives eleven years ago on 9/11, and honor those who continue to serve and protect, sometimes at great cost, at the 5th annual 9/11 Remembrance Run/Walk - America Goes the Distance. Everyone who participated, from the family friendly 5K run/walk, to the competitive 5K, 10K and 1/2 marathon, and those just doing a timed marathon training run of 10 or 20 miles hit the parade route for the Arvada Harvest Festival Parade. As they came up the first hill, they were cheered on by 2012 American Olympian, Kelsey Campbell (www.kelseycampbellusa.com). This female wrestler celebrated the runners and walkers as they passed by, and then joined the Arvada Harvest Festival Parade. We owe a huge thanks to our sponsors: Quadna/DXP, Cerescan, KYGO, CBS4, Coopers Troopers and IREA - and supporters: the City of Arvada, Arvada Police Department, and the Arvada Harvest Festival Parade committee.
